The 2025 Mazda CX-5 will keep its starting price under $30,000 by pushing back against a growing trend in the automotive industry. Where many rivals have trimmed bare-bones base models from their lineups entirely, Mazda has brought theirs back.
Mazda’s best-selling vehicle, the CX-5 is a compact SUV known for taut handling and premium-for-the-price cabin. For the 2024 model year, Mazda trimmed the spartan, low-priced CX-5 2.5 S from its lineup.
For 2025, 2.5 S is back. It uses cloth seating and a simple 4-speaker audio system. But it gives buyers a 10.25-inch color display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and safety and driver assist features like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and more.
Buyers looking for a longer standard equipment list will have to step up to a higher trim level and will have seven more to choose from. We should also note that, while the base model carries a temptingly low price, not every dealer is likely to keep it in stock.
