The Jeep Wrangler has seen its share of automotive technology come and go. Just a couple of years ago, it was the last vehicle to be available without air conditioning. This year, the 2025 Wrangler gets updates that see it abandon one outdated form of car tech and renew its commitment to another.
If you’re a fan of V6-powered Wrangler SUVs, you’d better know how to drive stick. Starting with 2025 models, you can only get a V6 Wrangler with a 6-speed manual transmission. Need an automatic? Wranglers with 4-cylinder, V8, or 4xe plug-in hybrid powertrains get an 8-speed automatic as standard equipment.
Also new for 2025, all models, from the base to the Rubicon 392, get standard power door locks and windows. That’s right, the days of the manual crank window Jeep are gone. This is possibly the final nail in the coffin of intergenerational car-to-car sign language. Younger folks will never understand your weird circular gestures.
Other changes for 2025 Wrangler models include a new olive-drab paint color dubbed ’41 in honor of the Jeep’s World War II origins. An optional Active Cabin Ventilation system is also new, allowing owners to “pre-ventilate” the cabin remotely via an app.
Pricing for 2025 Wrangler models is up by a few hundred dollars across the range compared to last year.
