The Honda Civic Si is a special car. It sits right at the intersection of driving enthusiasm and family life. The Civic is our 2024 Best Buy among compact cars thanks to its comfort, fuel economy, and class-leading reliability. But the Si gives you a little fun on your humdrum errands with its turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and manual transmission.
It’s not the car for track day. The extraordinary Civic Type R boasts 315 horsepower and beefier suspension and brakes for those looking for something to race.
But the Si offers 200 horsepower, a 6-speed manual transmission, and a suspension and steering retuned for a sportier feel than the other Civic trims. It’s all the practicality of a Civic, with a little more fun in the blend. The Si is for those looking for a livable day-to-day sedan, but one they can wring out on a winding road when they find one.
The combination works. Honda says it is America’s No. 1 brand in manual transmission sales this year, and that the Civic leads the pack as the country’s best-selling manual transmission car.
For 2025, the Civic Si will gain a little more sport and a little more comfort.
Updated Look, Heated Seats
Honda has redesigned the front fascia, aiming for a more aggressive look. The changes are subtle. Side air vents beneath the grille jut farther forward, and the grille itself takes on a hexagonal pattern. New taillights are a bit darker.
Engineers beefed up frame supports to make it stiffer for more precise handling. They also retuned the suspension dampers to account for the stiffer body and, for the first time, made stickier summer tires an option at purchase. Those high-performance tires are just $300 extra, Honda says.
Inside, the Si leans into its comfortable nature. Heated front seats are now standard. The driver’s instrument bezel now houses a 10.2-inch digital display. Screens, instead of gauges, let designers play. Owners can now display a turbo boost gauge and a g-meter – things you’d expect to see on a Type R.
“Sport pedals and red contrast stitching on the doors, steering wheel, center armrest, shift boot, and leather-wrapped aluminum shift knob add a performance edge to the Si cabin,” Honda says.
Shoppers will have to move to the new 2025 Civic Hybrid to get dual-zone climate control.
