2025 Genesis G80 Gets Updated Look, Price Increase

The Genesis G80 is the newest contender in the midsize luxury class, but it’s quickly become the equal of some of the world’s most well-balanced cars. Expert test driver Colin Ryan says of the 2024 edition, “With lots of standard equipment, contemporary technology, superb comfort, and class-appropriate styling, the G80 is a strong contender against more established rivals like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.”

For 2025, it’s getting an update. It’s not a wheels-up redesign. It’s what the auto industry calls a “mid-cycle refresh” – styling tweaks and technology updates to keep it competitive with recent rival updates.

The facelift means a (slightly) new look. The car’s silhouette stays unchanged, but its prominent shield grille gets a wider chain-link mesh, and designers reshaped a wide air vent beneath it. Its headlamps keep the two-line theme that is now a Genesis signature. New micro-lens array technology makes the lamps more effective in low-light situations without blinding oncoming traffic.

The 2024 G80 dash used two screens, one for the driver and a second in the center. The 2025 edition will replace both with a single 27-inch wide OLED dash-mounted screen. This arrangement lends a cleaner, higher-tech look to the cabin. The older version used a pair of puck-style controllers — one for the transmission and a second for infotainment functions. They’re still present for 2025 but are now made of crystal for a high-fashion touch.

A reshaped steering wheel gets a subtle flat bottom and a stylish two-tone look.

Mechanical changes are limited to new standard 4-piston fixed monobloc front brake calipers. The two powertrain choices return: a gasoline 2.5-liter turbo engine delivering 300 horsepower and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 making 375 hp.
