2025 Chevrolet Silverado EV Recalled to Make it Louder

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV

Chevrolet has issued a recall for 46 copies of its 2025 Silverado EV electric pickup because they could be dangerously quiet and not alert pedestrians to their presence. The recall affects only WT (work truck) variants of the Silverado EV.

Electric vehicles must meet minimum noise standards for pedestrian safety. Chevrolet tells federal safety officials that miscalibrated software left some Silverado EV units too quiet to meet the legal standard.

Dealers will fix the problem with a software update. “Some unsold vehicles may receive this update via wireless over-the-air technology,” the company says. However, owners who have taken one home may need to bring it to the dealership for the patch to be installed.
