2024 Nissan Rogue: New Look, New Infotainment

Nissan is unique. The best-selling product for most automakers in the U.S. is a pickup truck or a midsize SUV. But Nissan sells more copies of its Rogue small crossover than anything else. Most automakers use a 4-cylinder engine for their small SUV, but Nissan gives the Rogue a turbocharged 3-cylinder engine.

The company will update its best-seller for the 2024 model year with a new face and a significant update to cabin tech.

Those elements weren’t noticeable weaknesses, but the changes are welcome. Our expert test drivers like the Rogue for its safety scores and good power-to-fuel-economy ratio (Nissan dropped a cylinder to get that). Those should remain intact after the update.

The move isn’t a redesign. It’s what automakers call a “midcycle refresh” — an update at the halfway point of a design’s lifecycle to keep it competitive.

The company hasn’t provided pricing for the 2024 model. The 2023 Rogue starts at $27,910, with prices rising into the low $40,000 range fully equipped.

New Look Front and Rear

Nissan updated the look from the front and rear. The front fascia gets a new grille, dropping the big chrome U of the last generation. The Sentra, Ariya, and Versa have all done the same recently, so this seems to be Nissan’s new corporate face.

The Rogue gets a more spartan rear bumper, losing the big metallic element that seemed to ape a skid plate in the last model. The simplification works, making the Rogue look more refined.

Tech Updates For Some Trims, Not Others

Inside, lower trims remain unchanged. But the mid-level SL and top-of-the-line Platinum models enjoy a new infotainment system built around a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. The new unit gets Amazon’s Alexa, a hybrid radio system that allows drivers to “continue listening to their favorite local radio station even outside its signal area,” and USB-C ports for both rows.

It also uses Google Built-In, adding apps like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play even if you don’t connect a phone.

Connecting a phone remains an option, as every trim level gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — though they’re wireless only on SL and Platinum.

Buyers also get a 3-year subscription to the NissanConnect telematics service, which lets you lock and unlock doors, start the engine remotely, and sends vehicle health reports to your phone.
