Nissan’s first electric car, the Leaf, primarily distinguishes itself as one of the least expensive ways to get into an electric vehicle (EV). Nissan’s second EV aims for a different mark. The 2023 Nissan Ariya competes with the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6, Volkswagen ID.4, and other midsize electric crossovers. It fights for your attention with sleek looks, impressive cabin space, and up to 304 miles of range — and it does it all for a price very similar to its rivals.
Nissan revealed final pricing on the Ariya today. It starts at $43,190, plus a $1,295 delivery fee.
We’ve driven the Ariya (see video of our first impressions here) and found it surprisingly agile on twisty roads, comfortable, and full of thoughtful touches, like a center console that slides back and forth to let you find the perfect armrest position.
Range and horsepower vary according to trim level. Base Engage models come with a 63 kilowatt-hour (kWh) battery good for just 216 miles of range and a more-than-adequate 214 horsepower. Other models include an 87 kWh battery for more mileage. Horsepower figures climb as high as 389 for the top-of-the-line Platinum+ e4ORCE AWD edition. But the sweet spot for range is the Venture+ FWD, with 304 miles.
