2022 Toyota Camry Gets New Colors, Nightshade Edition Hybrid

Americans mostly buy SUVs now. We bought more SUVs than cars and trucks combined in 2020. But, when we do buy cars, we buy a lot of Toyota Camrys. The Camry has been the best-selling passenger car in America for 19 years running. Angling for a 20th year, Toyota won’t mess with the successful Camry formula much.

For 2022, the Camry returns in an exhaustive 18 different configurations of drivetrain and trim. The Nightshade Edition – limited to gas-powered Camrys last year – is now available as a hybrid. And Toyota has added several new color combinations.

Prices get a modest increase – the base model goes from $25,045 in 2021 to $25,295 in 2022. Prices top out a little over $38,000 if you go nuts clicking option and package buttons. All Camrys require a $1,025 delivery and processing fee.

Nightshade Comes to Camry Hybrid

Last year, Toyota introduced the Nightshade Edition Camry. It blacked out the wheels, badges, and trim (though it was available in several paint colors beyond black). But it was limited to gas-powered models. This year, shoppers can order the hybrid in Nightshade.

It rides on 18-inch gloss black wheels, with black trim, mirror caps, badges, and sharkfin antenna.

New Colors

Last year, Toyota introduced a sporty Camry TRD trim available in an exclusive color called Ice Edge – essentially a white tinged with a bit of glossy silver. That color is now available on every trim level.

To keep the TRD model’s uniqueness, it gets a different exclusive color combination – two-tone Cavalry Blue with a Midnight Black Metallic roof.
