The 2022 Nissan Pathfinder has undergone one of the most radical makeovers we’ve seen this year. Last year, it was a car-like crossover with a continuously variable transmission that many reviewers panned. This year, it will be a more traditional SUV with heavier truck influences, a 9-speed automatic transmission, and the option of a brand new all-wheel drive-system that could improve its wet-weather footing.
Nissan will offer the 2022 Pathfinder with seven different interior schemes it calls “environments.” These let buyers customize seating surfaces, interior trim, lighting accents, and other design elements.
2022 Nissan Pathfinder Price
Nissan has now released pricing information for the 2022 Pathfinder. It starts at $33,410, plus a destination fee of $1,150. Four trim levels, each available with front-wheel drive or AWD, mean prices can push to near $50,000. It reaches dealerships later this month.
Other manufacturers are just beginning to release pricing for 2022 models. But, if most hold true to patterns from recent years, that puts the base model Pathfinder neatly into the middle of the 3-row SUV segment. Without significant dealer incentives, it may remain a bit more expensive than the well-reviewed Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade. But it still comes in comfortably less expensive than a comparable Toyota Highlander.
We should point out, however, that while the Palisade and Telluride may have slightly lower starting prices, they’re getting hard to find. Three-row SUVs are selling well, and automakers are facing supply chain problems that make them hard for dealers to keep in stock. The Pathfinder may be a much more enticing alternative if Nissan can ship them to dealerships in sufficient numbers.
