2021 Chrysler Pacifica Limited AWD S
Minivans are among the hottest-selling vehicles in America this year. So it seems like a strange time for an automaker to trim one from their lineup. But that’s effectively what Chrysler has done. Thankfully, they had two to begin with. And, as they take one off the lot (for everyone but fleet buyers), they’re improving the other.
One Going Away (For Most of Us)
The Chrysler Voyager is going fleet-only for 2022. Rental car companies and other commercial fleet operators will still be able to buy the Voyager. But those of us who buy just one car at a time are out of luck. The 2022 Voyager that fleet managers find will come in a single trim level, LX, with power-sliding doors, heated seats, and a heated steering wheel. An available option package adds automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, parking sensors, and turn-by-turn navigation.
They’ll be attractive deals on the used market in a few years when Hertz and Avis start unloading them.
The Other Getting Improved Entertainment Options
It’s not a tremendous loss for the rest of us, as the Voyager is a simpler model based on a slightly older Pacifica. We have a fresher Chrysler Pacifica in its place, and it is an unquestionably more capable van.
Chrysler hasn’t given pricing for the 2022 Pacifica yet. We expect it to stay close to the 2021 model’s sticker price, which starts at $35,820 (plus a $1,495 destination fee).
The Pacifica features optional all-wheel drive in lieu of its standard front-wheel drive. There is also a plug-in hybrid version capable of acting as an electric car for the first 32 miles.
For 2022, the Pacifica gains a new entertainment option. Two Uconnect Theater packages (one with a single screen, one with two) both get Amazon Fire TV capability. The central touchscreen up front can also display video content when the car is in park.
Other changes are minimal, including new exterior color options and an improved display showing the state of the hybrid’s battery.
