For the 2022 model year, Chevrolet will drop the least-expensive model from its Blazer lineup and add some brighter colors for buyers to choose from. The move follows a pattern with GM SUVs. The automaker recently eliminated bargain models from both the Chevy Equinox and GMC Terrain. Very few buyers have been opting for these entry models.
In this case, eliminating the bargain L model leaves the Blazer with two engine options. A 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder making 228 horsepower comes on the 1LT, 2LT, and 3LT models. A 3.6-liter V6 making 308 horses is standard on the sportier RS.
Chevy has not announced prices for the 2022 Blazer. For reference, however, the 2021 1LT trim starts at $32,600, plus a $1,195 destination charge. With Chevy’s other 2022 SUVs, it has managed a slight price drop for most trim levels after eliminating the budget model. We wouldn’t be surprised to see that figure fall by a few hundred dollars.
All Blazers get a visual update. A dark gray shade now covers the front and rear lower fascias and side rockers, matching the color of the wheels. Two new hues – Nitro Yellow Metallic and Blue Glow Metallic – make their appearance. Buyers can order two-tone paint schemes with a contrast-color roof on the 1LT and RS.
Inside, an 8-inch touchscreen angled slightly toward the driver is now standard. Amazon’s Alexa digital assistant is built-in, as is a Wi-Fi hotspot.
The Chevy Assist Safety package is also now standard on all Blazers. It includes automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keeping assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and intelligent high beams.
