2021 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel HFE Rated at 33 Highway MPG

The EPA rates the 2021 Ram 1500 Tradesman HFE EcoDiesel trim at 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway. The Ram division calls the mileage number “unsurpassed,” which is true…but slightly misleading. The base version of the 2021 Chevy Silverado, with its 3.0-liter turbodiesel, delivers exactly the same mileage with a slightly higher towing capacity.

The Ram HFE EcoDiesel is unquestionably a work truck, available in two colors (black, or white). Available in rear-wheel drive only, the truck offers a roomy crew cab layout and uses a 67.4-inch bed. It features a cloth interior, a small, 5-inch infotainment screen, a black grille and bumper cover, and standard step rails.

The truck gets its efficiency not just from its diesel engine, but from lighter-weight, 20-inch aluminum wheels, and a tonneau cover. Some efficiency is lost when the cover is off.

With a starting price of $43,935, the HFE Ram EcoDiesel should go on sale in late spring.
