Jeep has issued a recall order for about 37,000 2021 Grand Cherokee L SUVs to correct a problem that could keep their headlights from functioning.
The recall applies only to Grand Cherokee L SUVs built between December 3, 2020, and July 21, 2021. The software that powers the smart headlight module may not have downloaded fully to those vehicles. As a result, one or both headlights can stop working suddenly, even if they have worked properly before.
This is the second software-related recall for these vehicles this winter. In November, Jeep recalled them to correct a software defect that could deactivate the airbags without notifying the driver.
Jeep dealers will reinstall the software, which should correct the issue and takes only a few minutes. As always, with safety recalls, the repair is free.
Many, if not most, vehicles are recalled, often more than once, during their useful lives. But millions of drivers miss recall alerts every year. Find out if your car is eligible for any free safety repairs at our recall center.
