The 2021 Ford Bronco is ready to create a giant splash in both the truck and SUV markets when it arrives later this year. First off, the production line is the aptly named and fully loaded Bronco First Edition.
This is a limited-edition run of 7,000 models, and the series was open to pre-ordering online ahead of its arrival at dealerships this summer. As of this writing, the First Edition is already sold out.
Fitted with pretty much everything a Bronco shopper can add onto this throwback-looking SUV for its introductory model year, the First Edition is the range-topping model of the lineup.
To better understand Ford’s newest all-terrain SUV, let’s examine the specs, standard and optional features, technology, and powertrain highlights of the 2021 Ford Bronco First Edition.
Bronco First Edition Price and Details
The Ford Bronco First Edition carries a starting MSRP of $57,410 for the 2-door model and $61,605 for the 4-door variant. All prices exclude destination charges.
As the top dog of the Bronco lineup, the First Edition comes with the most powerful engine currently offered in this Ford SUV. Under the square-cut hood is a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 that delivers 310 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission and 4-wheel drive (4WD) are included as standard powertrain equipment, too.
Maximum towing capacity for both the 2-door and 4-door models tops out at 3,500 lbs. This requires opting for the Towing Capability package, one of the few items not included as standard on the First Edition.
The 2021 Bronco First Edition 2-door model stretches 174 inches in total length, 76 inches in width, and 72 inches high. Choosing the 4-door body style bumps total length to 189 inches. The 4-door also rides on a substantially longer 116-inch wheelbase versus the 100-inch wheelbase that underpins the 2-door.
First Edition Standard and Optional Features
The Ford Bronco First Edition comes with almost every available option included as standard equipment. This includes the more powerful 310-hp 2.7-liter V6, along with several interior and exterior upgrades cherry-picked from other Bronco trims and option packages.
This includes the Sasquatch Package, which includes features like 17-inch black-painted and beadlock-capable alloy wheels, larger fender flares, higher clearance suspension, 4.7:1 final-drive ratio, and LT315/70R17 Mud-Terrain (M/T) tires.
The tech and safety-focused Ford CoPilot360 package is also included. This consists of the SYNC 4 infotainment system, Bluetooth, AppleCarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.
Ford CoPilot360 also adds active safety features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and a rearview camera with active guidelines.
As you’d expect, the standard 4-wheel-drive hardware comes with a terrain management system with six driver-selectable G.O.A.T. (Goes Over Any Type of Terrain) modes. This, along with the standard Sasquatch package, make the First Edition ideal for scrambling over rough terrain.
The First Edition has a softer side, however. Inside, it’s equipped with its own trim-specific leather seating, not to mention all the features found in the Mid, High, and Lux option packages. Among other items, this entails a 12-inch touchscreen (versus the standard 8-inch screen), wireless device charging, 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, heated steering wheel, and surround-view camera, to name a few.
The First Edition can be spotted externally by its unique hood and side graphics, black hardtop, and safari bar over the front grille. Five colors are available: Cactus Gray, Area 51 (blue/gray), Rapid Red, Cyber Orange, and Lightning Blue.
