Ford has announced the return of a high impact color, Grabber Lime, to the Mustang lineup by timing the news with the observance of St. Patrick’s Day. Following a trend established by Dodge in bringing back high impact colors from the 1970s, the 2020 Ford Mustang will be available in Grabber Lime at no extra charge. It joins Twister Orange as the other throwback color in the Mustang palette.
In describing the new hue, Barb Whalen, Ford’s color and materials manager, explained “It’s lime green on steroids. This color trans back to a Mustang heritage color while bringing it forward with more modern, dynamic pigments and bold new energy. These bright, vibrant retro colors are trending in design – in home furnishings, sportswear and even appliances.” Heaven forfend a return to Avocado-colored refrigerators.

Ford also said two new feature colors, Iconic Silver and Red Hot Metallic will also be offered in addition to Grabber Lime and Twisted Orange on all Mustangs for 2020 including Shelby GT350 and GT500 models. In addition to no extra charge for the retro colors on standard Mustangs, Ford will offer the paint schemes as regular run of production during the 2020 model year. The 2020 Ford Mustang goes on sale this fall with pricing announced later.
