Do you like to drive with the wind in your hair? Maybe, a lot of wind in your hair? Then you’ll want to check out the 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 Convertible. With the same 755-horsepower supercharged V8 as the ZR1 Coupe that debuted in Dubai, the Convertible also boasts a top speed exceeding 200 miles per hour. Going 200 mph in a convertible…would your hair even stay on your head?
The first convertible Corvette ZR1 since 1970, the 2019 model shares virtually everything except its roof with the coupe. There’s the same aero-enhanced styling, with a functional wing solidly mounted to the chassis capable of producing up to 950 pounds of downforce at top speed. The suspension and chassis were modified only to accommodate the power folding top (which operates up to 30 mph) and to reposition the seatbelt mounts. Otherwise, the chassis and suspension settings match the coupe.

The new Corvette ZR1 Convertible is also further proof that part of this ultimate Corvette’s mission is to be a real car that could be driven every day, despite its nearly comical amounts of horsepower, handling, and performance capability. The comfortable interior and upscale materials combine with a Stealth mode for the exhaust, which quiets the monster V8 significantly. Don’t worry, a specially tuned Track mode not only enhances handling, steering, throttle response and everything else, it completely opens the exhaust to let the V8 bellow in glory.

Prices Announced
So how much will all this ultimate Corvette cost you? When it goes on sale this spring, the coupe will boast a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $119,995, with the special aero kit that includes the high-downforce wing adding $2,995 to the price. The convertible starts at $123,995. A 7-speed manual transmission comes standard, with a paddle-shifting 8-speed automatic available. Note that’s the MSRP; we expect many dealers to pad that price significantly, considering the exclusivity of the car. Still, with 0-60 mph in less than 3 seconds, a quarter mile time less than 11 seconds, and a top speed exceeding 200 mph, it qualifies as an amazing performance bargain, which is just as much a part of the Corvette heritage as V8 power and head-turning style.
