Making its first public appearance at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz S Class Coupe Night Edition puts its own luxury spin on what’s become and increasingly popular dark theme. On sale in Europe next April, U.S. buyers will have to wait until August to get their hands on this slightly sinister but decidedly ultra-lux 2-door.
The S-Class Coupe Night Edition will be offered in a range of standard colors as well as the optional Selenite Grey Magno, a custom matte finish from M-B’s designo catalog. Highlighting the Night Edition’s exterior are unique AMG-spec front/rear fascia treatments — including a distinctive grille insert with a single gloss-black bar — gloss-black mirror caps and side-sill inserts plus appropriate fender badges all set off with 20-inch AMG light-alloy wheels rendered in black with bright rim flanges.
Inside, the Night Edition boasts a Nappa-leather trimmed AMG Sport steering wheel an engraved “Night Edition” insert, high-gloss black poplar wood accent trim and illuminated door sills with “Mercedes-Benz” lettering. It will offer the choice of standard leather, Nappa leather or a premium AMG Nappa treatment in black/black, crystal grey/black, brown/black or Bengal red/black two-tone motifs.

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Night Edition will be available in three variants, starting with an all-wheel-drive S400 4Matic that packs M-B’s 3.0-liter/367-horsepower twin-turbo V6. Both the S500 and S500 4Matic Night Edition models are fitted with the 4.7-liter/449-horse biturbo V8. Mercedes has not yet confirmed which of the three will be heading to showrooms in America.
