Alert drivers who keep an eye on their review mirrors will be seeing a new law enforcement vehicle looming in the form of the 2018 Dodge Durango Police Pursuit model. The FCA division announced that the vehicle would go into production after it performed well in the Michigan State Police 2018 model-year vehicle evaluation.
“Unofficial testing results at the Michigan State Police 2018 model-year vehicle evaluation event created such a stir among law enforcement agencies that we simply had to find a way to build this vehicle,” said Steve Beahm, head of the Dodge brand for FCA. “The Dodge Durango is already known as the Charger of SUVs, so it is only natural that the new Durango Pursuit complements the Charger Pursuit in police fleets across the country.”

The Durango Pursuit is equipped with a 360-horsepower 5.7-liter V8 similar to the one used in the Dodge Charger Pursuit already being used by law enforcement agencies. The Durango also features all-wheel drive with a 2-speed transfer case that gives the vehicle true low-range off-road capability. Other equipment geared towards the extreme requirements of the job include a 220-amp alternator, 800 cold cranking amp battery, heavy-duty oil cooler and water pump, under-vehicle spare tire mount to free up cargo space, and spot lamp wiring. Dodge will be accepting orders for the 2018 Dodge Durango Pursuit from law enforcement agencies.
