Chevrolet is growing its midsize Colorado pickup truck offering for the 2018 model year with two new ZR2 special editions: Midnight and Dusk.
The all-black 2018 Colorado ZR2 Midnight Edition includes black Chevy bowtie emblems, 17-inch 5-spoke black accessory wheels, and a black sport bar with off-road LED lights that includes ZR2 logos on the bar’s sail panels. The 2018 ZR2 Dusk Edition includes the features of the ZR2 Midnight Edition but buyers can choose other exterior colors.
Chevy says it is offering the special editions on the ZR2 off-road-geared pickup to provide more personalization choices for truck buyers. “Chevrolet offers more choices because the truck market is too diverse for a ‘one size fits most’ strategy,” Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. vice president of Truck Strategy, Performance Vehicles and Motorsports, said in a statement.
General Motors Co.’s largest brand has offered Midnight Editions on several other vehicles including the Silverado, Silverado HD, Tahoe, Suburban, Equinox, Trax and Impala.

The Colorado ZR2, which Chevy introduced for the 2017 model year, has a meaner and more rugged looking hood and grille than a base Colorado. It also features modified front and back bumpers to aid off-road clearance.
The Colorado ZR2 rides two inches higher than a base Colorado and has a 3.5-inch wider track. The ZR2 Colorado includes features such as off-road suspension, Multimatic shocks, front and rear electronic locking differential, off-road rocker protection, hill descent control and 4-wheel disc brakes. The ZR2 is equipped with a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. A 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel also is available.
The 2018 Colorado Midnight Edition and ZR2 Dusk Edition each are a $3,425 option. With the packages, a 2018 Colorado ZR2 4-wheel-drive crew cab with a short pickup box runs $46,205, including destination fee.
The special editions will be on display for the first time publicly at Chevy’s concept and production vehicle stand at the SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The SEMA event runs Oct. 31 through Nov. 3.
