Things will be looking even brighter for the 2018 Audi R8 V10 family here in the U.S. thanks to the selection of visual and technical updates as well as the availability of the automaker’s laser headlight light technology across the lineup.
Introduced here last year on the limited-run 2017 R8 V10 Plus Exclusive Edition, Audi’s laser-enhanced high beams will be optional on all V10 variants for 2018 and come standard on the R8 V10 Plus. Operational at speeds in excess of 40 mph when conditions permit, they employ laser tech to supplement the mid-engine R8’s basic LED headlamps and create a wider, lower and deeper-reaching beam of illumination that helps make night driving less stressful.

Exterior changes to the 2018 R8 lineup include a move from matte to a high-gloss finish for the Anthracite inlays on the V10 models and Carbon sigma inlays on the V10 Plus as well as new silver finish 19-inch forged alloys on the V10. Other details include new Audi Sport badging and puddle lights with an Audi Sport logo while the cabin features an upgraded smartphone interface. The automaker is introducing a new Black Optic package for 2018 that includes Black Optic exterior trim with Mythos Black side blades on V10 models, gloss black exhaust outlets and 20-inch/10-spoke Y-design forged alloys wrapped finished in high-gloss Anthracite.
