Pushing a simple design and straightforward equipment roster, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Worker model bowed in Chicago offering a blank canvas for various trades that need commercial vans for rolling workspaces. Aimed at trades like plumbing, electrical, general contracting and heating/air conditioning specialists, the Worker model comes with a 2.1-liter 161-horsepower 4-cylinder diesel engine mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission.

More than 300 cubic feet of space

Riding on a 144-inch wheelbase, the standard height Sprinter van offers a 137.4-inch long cargo floor and 66.5 inches of standing height. It boasts 319.1 cubic feet of cargo volume and its roof can support up to 660 lbs. Available in any color so long as it’s white, the Sprinter Worker comes with such creature comforts as air conditioning, power windows, Bluetooth connectivity, 4-speaker audio system, adjustable armrests and 5 cup-holders. Mercedes also touts the long service intervals of up to 20,000 miles on the Worker.

There are also three affordable option packages. The first is the $1,499 Convenience that includes cruise control, heated outside power mirrors, automatic lights and windshield wipers, multifunction steering wheel and trailer hitch pre-wiring. Buyers can opt for a $2,999 Utility package which includes all Convenience features plus a wooden cargo floor, rear step bumper, LED cargo area lights, glass windows in the rear cargo doors and grab handles. Finally, the Overtime package, priced at $4,499 includes all the items in the first two packages as well as an upgraded audio system, high-beam assist, blind spot assist, rear view camera, first aid kit and an emergency flashlight.
