Well-heeled enthusiasts can start cueing up for a shot at owning one of the first 500 examples of the exotic 2017 Ford GT. Ford has now begun accepting applications for what it says will be the initial production run of 250 units per year from now until May 12 at a dedicated www.FordGT.com online configurator. However, merely visiting the site is only the first step towards ownership of a vehicle Ford estimates will carry a starting price in the “mid-$400,000s” range — not including destination and delivery fees.

The automaker plans to create “a unique, customer-focused experience to help select potential owners,” and those who pass muster will compete the process with a dedicated Ford GT Concierge Service representative to create a personalized experience. The Concierge Service rep acts as a liaison between applicants from around the world and their preferred Ford dealer in GT-approved markets during the order and delivery process as well as during the ownership experience.

“The purchase process for the Ford GT is as unique as our all-new supercar,” said Henry Ford III, global marketing manager, Ford Performance. “We understand GT customers are strong ambassadors for Ford Motor Company, and we look forward to providing them a service as distinct as the car itself.”

While Ford offered no additional tech details on its newest supercar, it did confirm that the limited-production GT will be available in eight exterior colors including Matte Black and offer seven contrast striping options.
