2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 Priced

The new 2017 Chevy Camaro ZL1 — the most powerful production iteration ever built — will command $62,135 when it rolls into showrooms later this year while its drop-top sibling will open at $69,135. Both will be motivated by a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 tuned to make a stunning 650 horses — 10 more than originally promised — whether linked to a standard 6-speed manual transmission or optional 10-speed automatic. Choose that paddle-shift automatic and Chevy says the ZL1 will streak to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and charge through the quarter mile in just 11.4 ticks at a blistering 127 mph on sticky but fully street-legal Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires.

Fitted with Brembo brakes, the aggressively styled ZL1 also can stop from 60 mph in a mere 107 feet and pull a maximum of 1.02g in a corner helped by its custom-tuned FE4 Magnetic Ride Control variable suspension, Performance Traction Management system and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. According to Chevy marketing exec Steve Majoros, that combination of hardware and software plus a 220-pound weight reduction relative to its predecessor gives the new ZL1 “supercar performance with daily-driver refinement, a combination that stacks up against any other sports coupe — at any price — around the world.”

While not quite ready to provide final sticker pricing on the 2017 Camaro V6 LT and V8 SS models which also arrive later on, Chevy confirmed that the track-focused 1LE Packages for these hot coupe models would start at $4,500 and $6,500, respectively. Available for the first time on a Camaro LT model, the 1LE Package bolsters that car’s 335-horse V6 engine with the same FE3 suspension used in a standard Camaro SS along with Brembo brakes and Eagle F1 Supercar rubber on 20-inch alloys while 1LE kit in the 455-horse Camaro SS includes all that along with the same FE4 variable shocks and electronic limited-slip differential found on the ZR1. As for performance numbers, Chevy says the new V6 LT 1LE hustles from 0-60 mph in 5.2 ticks — one more second than it takes V8 SS — and stops from that speed in 112 feet, five more than the SS V8. While the V6 car can’t quite match the SS 1LE’s 1.02g pull on a skidpad, it does hang on at a very respectable 0.97g
