The latest collaboration between British luxury automaker Aston Martin and Italian design house Zagato debuted at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance as a stunning convertible follow-on to the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Coupe unveiled earlier this year at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in Italy. Save for being crowned with a power folding top similar to the one found on a standard Vanquish Volante, the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante shares much in common with its fixed-roof counterpart, including unique carbon fiber bodywork and a commitment by Aston Martin to hand built in a limited run of just 99 units, a number of which are destined for the U.S. market sometime next year.

In presenting this exclusive new offering, Aston Martin’s EVP and Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman noted: “Just like the Coupe, we have emphasized the way surfaces change and intersect to create a muscular form and endeavored to create an elegant, flowing shape that really works to emphasize the car’s sculpted rear haunches.” The round taillamps have the “bladed” LED technology found on Aston’s Vulcan supercar.
Like the Zagato Coupe, the Volante also is powered by the automaker’s naturally aspirated 5.9-liter V12 engine that has been massaged to boost output from 568 to 592 horsepower. Shipped to the rear wheels via a multi-mode ZF 8-speed automatic transmission, the engine reportedly will take the car from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The Vanquish Zagato Volante’s bespoke cabin treatment also parallels that of its Coupe counterpart. Bridge of Weir premium leather covers the seats and door panels. The upholstery boast signature “Z” quilted patterns and logos embossed on the headrests and sewn into the center console. U.S. pricing for the Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante was not released but it’s expected to start somewhere north of $500,000.
