Already on sale in China, a hybrid version of the 2016 Nissan Murano crossover SUV will be arriving in U.S. showrooms later this year. While Nissan has yet to officially announce the on-sale date for this most fuel-efficient Murano model, the EPA released rating numbers for both front drive and all-wheel drive versions of the 2016 Nissan Murano Hybrid. The former earns 28/31/29-mpg city/highway/combined stats while the latter boasts 26/30/28-mpg number. Those compare to 21/28/24-mpg figures for both front- and all-wheel drive versions of the standard Murano powered by a 3.5-liter V6.

In China, the Murano Hybrid relies on a 2.5-liter supercharged 4-cylinder engine and an electric motor fed by a compact lithium-ion battery pack for motivation — the same combo found in the 2016 Infiniti QX60 Hybrid where it makes a collective 250 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque. Based on EPA info, that pairing will be used here as well, in concert with the Nissan Intelligent Dual Clutch System and an Xtronic CVT transmission. While final output has not been released, we suspect they’ll remain unchanged. We expect to hear more about the 2016 Nissan Murano Hybrid soon.
