Mazda announced that the 2016 CX-5 will have a rearview camera system standard on all models with a 6-speed automatic transmission and added navigation to two uplevel trims as a mid-model year upgrade. To mark the changes, Mazda is calling it the 2016.5 CX-5. As a result of the changes, only the entry-level CX-5 Sport with a manual transmission will not have or offer the rearview camera. Also, Touring model which will now have standard navigation will also be equipped with heated front seats while navigation is now standard on Grand Touring models. In the past, nav was part of the optional Technology Package.

"The added content in 2016.5 CX-5 reflects our customers’ tastes toward premium features in a compelling, fun-to-drive, stylish crossover," said Robert Davis, Senior VP of U.S. Operations, MNAO. Pricing for the base CX-5 Sport with the 2.0-liter/155-horsepower engine carries over unchanged, but a $20 bump in destination fees brings its total to $22,695. The automatic CX-5 Sport with the 184-horse/2.5-liter now opens at $24,495 while the Touring starts at $26,115 and the CX-5 Grand Touring commences at $29,470. Fitting Mazda’s i-Activ AWD to any of the CX-5s with automatic transmission adds $1,300 to those figures. These 2016 Mazda CX-5 models will arrive next month.
