Building off of its fast and flashy RC 350 luxury sport coupe, Lexus is expanding the family for 2016 with the introduction of two new variations on the theme, each with its own unique powertrain. The new entry level model is the Lexus RC 200t. Available only in rear-drive, it packs the same 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine introduced in the NX 200t and currently used in the IS 200t and GS 200t. Here, it develops 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of peak torque, the latter from 1,650 to 4,400 rpm, and is backed by an 8-speed Sports Program Direct Shift (SPDS) automatic transmission.
One step up, the new Lexus RC 300 AWD arrives on scene fitted with a bespoke version of the 3.5-liter V6 used in the RC 350. Vital stats are 255 horses and 236 lb-ft of torque compared to 306/277 numbers in the RC 350 and RC 350 AWD. This new all-wheel-drive version also shares the same 6-speed automatic found in the RC 350 AWD.

The broader-based 2016 Lexus RC Coupe cadre gets a few other modest enhancements for the new season, starting with the availability of Lexus Enform Service Connect that comes with one year of complimentary use and allows owners to remote-view information about their vehicle and receive various notifications via the MyLexusandBeyond mobile app for iOS smartphones or the LexusDrivers.com website. Like the rear-drive RC 350, the new RC 200t will be available in an enthusiast-oriented F Sport spec. Although Adaptive Variable Suspension with Sport+ drive mode and the Lexus Dynamic Handling system with Dynamic Rear Wheel Steering are only on the RC 350 F Sport, performance dampers are standard on all RC 200t versions and both F Sport variants will offer optional orange brake calipers and a limited slip differential. Pricing for the 2016 Lexus RC lineup will be announced closer to its official on-sale date.
