Hyundai has ceased production of its sporty Genesis Coupe and said 2016 will be the last year we’ll see the car in this form. The news is hardly surprising given the automaker’s recent move to establish Genesis as its own luxury sub-brand — and that fact this rear-drive 2+2 has been rolling along with only modest changes since being introduced for the 2010 model year.

Even as coupes continue to represent a declining slice of the market, Hyundai Motor Company Vice Chairman Euisun Chung said a new upscale 2-door model will be added to the Genesis lineup along with a compact sedan and a pair of new SUV/Crossover models. All of these will be on sale in the U.S. by the end of the decade.
Those looking to snare one of the last of the 2016 Genesis Coupes should find some attractive deals on the remaining stocks of this enthusiast-focused compact which comes in Base ($27,845), R-Spec ($30,795) and Ultimate ($34,645) models, all of which are powered by a 348-horsepower/3.8-liter V6 engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard with Base and Ultimate models offering an optional 8-speed paddle-shift automatic. The R-Spec and Ultimate versions also feature tauter track-tuned suspension settings as well as Brembo high-performance brakes.
