Although the base version isn’t due in showrooms here for nearly a year, official images of the new 2016 BMW 2 Series Active Tourer with an M Sport Package have now surfaced. Seen here in European trim, the M Sport kit tastefully elevates the visual profile and dynamic character of the automaker’s first-ever front-drive offering. While U.S. execs have yet to comment on the status of this future product option, well-established BMW precedent indicates we’ll see some version of the 2 Series Active Tourer M Sport Package on offer in America, as well.

Key exterior changes in the M Sport Package include a full body kit with more aggressively contoured fascias, a high-gloss black grille insert, deeper side sills, unique rear diffuser with bright exhaust outlets and 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels plus discreet M badges on the front fenders. A sport-tuned suspension that adds agility also drops ride height by nearly half an inch to impart even more of an enthusiast edge to the mix. Inside, the M Sport Package nets uniquely upholstered sport buckets up front, a flat-bottom M Sport steering wheel and M door sill plates set off by an anthracite headliner.
