Latest variation of its flagship sedan line, the new 2016 Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport serves as a step-up choice from the base A8 without the full expense of the S8 flagship. Beyond an extra helping of underhood might, the 4.0T Sport features a more aggressive appearance as well as an impressive selection of comfort/convenience touches.

The heart of this new Audi is a mildly tweaked version of the A8’s 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 450 horsepower compared to the normal 435. Exterior changes include edgier front/rear fascias, more deeply sculpted side sills, a reduction in exterior brightwork and 20-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires — a combo that can be upgraded to 21-inch rims wrapped in performance rubber.

Inside, the 4.0T Sport’s cabin features diamond-tufted Valcona leather set off with an Alcantara headliner and a panoramic sunroof. Heated/ventilated 22-way power Comfort Sport seats with a massage function, acoustic glazing on the greenhouse and standard Executive, Luxury and Sport style packages add more appeal. A standard Head Up display and Audi side assist and pre-sense rear functions can be augmented by an available adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go capability. Pricing for the 2016 Audi A8 L 4.0T Sport starts at $91,425 which is $9,000 more than the standard Audi A8 L but $24,400 less than the Audi S8 L.
