Following what seems like the world’s longest gestation period and two concept reveals, the production version of the 2016 Acura NSX will finally bow at the North American International Auto Show. "After three years of intensive development work, we are excited to reveal this next-generation supercar — the Acura NSX — to the world," said Ted Klaus, chief engineer and global project leader for the program.

Developed and produced in the U.S., the 2016 NSX will build on the heritage of the original but offer greater performance thanks to its new Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel-Drive (SH-AWD) system. This gas/electric package includes a mid-mounted twin-turbo V6 that drives the rear wheels, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and a trio of electric motors — including one at each front wheel — that allows for active torque vectoring.

Acura‘s senior vice-president and general manager, Mike Accavetti, is confident the next-gen NSX has all of the elements required to help energize the brand in the years to come. It will be built exclusively at the automaker’s new Performance Manufacturing Center in Marysville, Ohio with production starting in 2015.
