The end of an era is upon us, with the arrival of the 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition. Now in its tenth and ultimate generation, the legendary sport sedan will bow out with a limited run of 1,600 units for the U.S. market, all based on an enhanced version of the current Evolution GSR model. In addition to their functional and cosmetic enhancements, each of the vehicles will feature a serial number plate on the center console.
More power, more style
All Final Edition cars are fitted with an even more potent version of the Evo’s basic 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder MIVAC engine that makes 303 horses and 305 lb-ft of torque versus the normal 291/300 stats. Here, too, it’s paired with a 5-speed manual transmission and ships power to each corner via Mitsu’s rally-racing-derived Super All-Wheel Control AWD system. Other mechanical enhancements include Bilstein shock absorbers and Eibach springs — neither of which had been available previously on an Evo with a 5-speed manual gearbox — as well as Brembo brakes with 2-piece front rotors.

The distinctive exterior treatment of the Evo Final Edition matches a new Diamond White Pearl, Octane Blue, Rally Red or Mercury Gray with a black painted aluminum roof. Other unique touches include a gloss-black center bumper and hood air outlet, dark chrome grille surround and 18-inch Enkie alloy wheels, also with a dark chrome finish set off with a Final Edition decklid badge.
Inside, the Lancer Evolution Final Edition gets a black headliner, sun visors, pillar trim and assist handles plus red accent stitching, "Final Edition" animation on its gauge display and a gloss black center console with the aforementioned production serial-number plate. The 2015 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Final Edition will start at $38,805 and arrive in showrooms next month.
