2015 Mazda MX-5 Miata and 25th Anniversary Edition models priced

Mazda has announced pricing for all members of its 2015 MX-5 Miata lineup including the limited-run 25th Anniversary Edition. The base MX-5 Club will open at $24,765 while the Miata MX-5 Club PHRT (Power Retractable Hard Top) variant will start at $29,460. The 2015 MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition – a PHRT-only model restricted to just 100 units for the U.S. market – will command $33,000 when fitted with the standard 6-speed manual transmission or $33,450 for one with a 6-speed Sport automatic.

With an all-new, SkyActiv-based iteration of its iconic roadster set to launch for 2016, the 25th Anniversary Edition provides Mazda an opportunity to usher out the third-generation MX-5 with style and exclusivity. All 100 units will be finished in Soul Red Metallic with the A-pillars, windshield surround, side mirrors and roof done in contrasting Brilliant Black. Other exterior tweaks include black front combination lamps bezels and 17-inch Dark Gunmetal aluminum wheels wrapped in sticky 205/45 Bridgestone Potenza RE05A tires as well as a serialized 25th Anniversary badge on the left front fender.

Inside, the 25th Anniversary Edition boasts exclusive Almond leather seats and door trim, black leather on the steering wheel, parking brake lever, armrests and manual transmission shift lever boot along with aluminum alloy pedals. Setting off the look are Brilliant Black, Piano Black and satin chrome accents plus red contrast stitching and bespoke stainless steel door sill plates that like the headrests, carry a 25th Anniversary Edition logo. Price of entry for this distinctive MX-5 also includes a custom-crafted Tourneau watch and display winder box, each with distinctive MX-5 and 25th Anniversary Edition IDs.

Although output of its 2.0-liter engine remains unchanged – 167 horsepower with the manual/158 with the autoshifter – the pistons, connecting rods and flywheel in all 25th Anniversary Edition cars will be individually weight matched and balanced to enhance smoothness. Opting for the do-it-yourself transmission also will bring custom Bilstein shock absorbers. 

Anticipating that demand for the MX-5 25th Anniversary Edition will significantly outstrip supply, Mazda has set up a dedicated microsite for those who’d like a shot at putting one in their garage. It will accept pre-registration data from 250 individuals and the first 100 verified applicants will be allowed to place a formal order. Mazda also advises that any attempt to game the system using multiple entries will see all of them tossed. Like the rest of the 2015 Mazda Miata MX-5 lineup, deliveries of the 25th Anniversary Edition models will commence in late summer.
