2015 Dodge Viper gets a $15,000 price cut

Hoping to bolster the decidedly grim sales numbers of the high-intensity supercar, Dodge has announced a huge $15,000 price reduction on the 2015 Viper as well as on all of the roughly 600 unsold 2013-2014 SRT-designated versions still on dealer lots. That cut brings the price of a base 2015 Viper SRT to a far more attractive $89,668 including $1,995 in destination charges and $2,678 in gas-guzzler fees. Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO – Dodge and SRT Brands, points out that the new opening figure for the Gen V Viper is roughly equivalent to the real-world cost of the original 1992 model. For the record, that awesomely pure but undeniably raw sports car that had "only" 400 horsepower compared to the current Viper’s 645 count and lacked functional refinements like ABS brakes, traction/stability control, launch control and available adjustable suspension — not to mention the Gen V Viper’s enhanced carbon fiber/magnesium/aluminum structure.

Beyond the SRT model, the 2015 Viper lineup will include a new GT variant that opens at $99,668 and adds Nappa leather seats with Alcantara inserts, Alcantara accent trim, two-mode suspension, five-mode stability control, a GTS-style hood, two-piece StopTech slotted brake rotors and Viper-badged aluminum sill plates. Also in the mix is Viper TA 2.0 Special Edition that includes a high-performance Aero Package in its $105,668 price of entry as well as the range-topping 2015 Dodge Viper GTS that starts at $112,668 and gains a new Ceramic Blue Special Edition with exclusive paint and stripes.

As a fitting perk for existing Gen V Viper owners, Dodge also will issue each a certificate worth $15,000 that can be redeemed toward the purchase of a new Dodge Viper – and that’s in addition to the $15,000 price reduction. Currently on a production hiatus, the Conner Avenue Assembly Plant will resume building 2015 Vipers late this year with new cars set to arrive in dealer showrooms during the first quarter of 2015.
