Set to arrive in showrooms next month, the 2014 Ford Fiesta SE with the Super Fuel Economy package will roll onto the scene sporting a 41 mpg EPA highway rating. That number places it at the top of the subcompact category, a segment where fuel economy has long been a critical buyer consideration criterion. The Fiesta SE with SFE package also earns a 30 mpg EPA city rating. Both reflect 1-mpg gains over the 2013 Fiesta SFE model, advances attributable to minor tweaks in the powertrain controls and body kit bits.

As with the current iteration, the 2014 SFE-spec Fiesta SE makes its now even more impressive numbers with an optimized combination of drivetrain and aerodynamics. That starts with its 120-horsepower/1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine exclusively backed by a highly efficient 6-speed PowerShift dual-clutch automatic transmission. The SFE package also adds articulated lower grille shutters, underbody fairings, side air deflectors, a rear spoiler and low-rolling-resistance tires along with cruise control.
