Providing a bit of fast flash for its redesigned 2014 BMW X5, the automaker introduced a new line of M Performance Parts that will allow owners of these Gen III models to raise both the profile and the dynamic capabilities of their vehicles. Presented for the first time in Chicago, the new X5-specific components will join others in the already extensive M Performance Parts catalog.

The initial selection of M-spec X5 upgrades starts with a full assortment of unique body bits from a high-gloss black grille to M Performance rocker sills to a tasteful liftgate spoiler. Many, including the front splitter, mirror caps, rear diffuser and aft aero flaps are rendered in carbon fiber. Also on offer are lightweight 21-inch alloy wheels and high-performance tires. Inside, owners can make a personal statement with items like an Alcantara-covered sport steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and an assortment of carbon fiber accents.

Beyond adding visual kick, M Performance offers upgrades for the X5 that can enhance its acceleration and braking capabilities. The M Performance Power kit for the X5 xDrive35i adds 26 horsepower and 32 lb-b-ft of torque to the baseline 300/300 output figures of its 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six engine and can be matched with an M Performance Exhaust system that features dual chrome outlets. Stopping distances can be reduced by the M Performance Brake Kit that brings six-piston calipers and huge 19-inch steel rotors that were adapted from the previous-generation X5M model.
