Resplendent in GTS Blue set off by Bright White dual contrast stripes, the limited-production 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition is making its formal debut this weekend at the Quail Lodge’s “The Quail: A Motorsports Gathering” and at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The paint scheme, which will be exclusive to the first run of new Vipers that roll out of the refurbished Conner Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, recalls the look seen on launch versions of previous generation Viper Coupes in 1996 and 2006.
As revealed at the New York Auto Show in April, both the 2013 SRT Viper roadster and the Viper GTS Coupe will be the quickest, fastest, lightest, best-handling and the most civilized of these super snakes ever to hit the streets. All new, with carbon fiber and aluminum body panels, a stronger, stiffer chassis and an even more potent 640-horsepower/8.4-liter V10 under its hood, the fifth-generation of this all-American supercar lineup already stands as one of the most eagerly anticipated introductions of the year. The lust level will spike even higher for the Viper GTS Launch Editions which complement their unique paint with a number of other special touches highlighted by distinctive deep-section/5-spoke polished forged-aluminum wheels and the new-gen “Stryker” badge on the hood that features a blue background in place of the grey color that will be used on other 2013 SRT Vipers models.
Inside, the 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition cars feature Black Laguna leather with contrast stitching throughout the entire cabin set off by a black Alcantara headliner, a Satin Silver finish on the normally white instrument bezels and an appropriately blue-backed Stryker Badge on the steering wheel. Each vehicle also will come with a serialized dash plaque denoting its place in the initial build run.
The 2013 SRT Viper GTS Launch Edition will go on sale in the fourth quarter of this year. Pricing has not yet been announced.
