Redesigned and restyled for 2012 along with the rest of its C-Class siblings, the 2013 Mercedes-Benz C300 4Matic sedan will arrive in dealers here next month with an even more potent and efficient powertrain plus several feature enhancements. The ultimate all-season version of M-B’s compact luxury four-door packs a new 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 engine in place of the previous 3.0-liter engine. Essentially a detuned version of the engine used in the C350 models, it makes 248 horses and 251 lb-ft of torque, up from the 228/221 numbers of the previous six. Backed by the carryover 7-speed automatic with Touch Shift manual control capabilities, this bigger engine also boasts a standard ECO Start/Stop system that should benefit real-world fuel economy numbers, although Mercedes has yet to release any EPA numbers.
Like other C-Class models, the 2013 C300 4Matic also adds the automaker’s new mbrace2 cloud-based telematics service to its roster of standards — a change that brings Internet access along with more remote-access interactivity and diagnostic capabilities. Mercedes’ radar-based Distronic Plus adaptive cruise control with automatic braking capability also is now available as a stand-alone option.
