The latest offering for the big boy’s toy box is set to make its debut in Las Vegas when the 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition takes to the stands at the SEMA Show. Inspired by the Hot Wheels Camaro that debuted at last year’s SEMA gathering, this new iteration marks the first time Mattel has actually licensed its iconic Hot Wheels name for use on an actual production model. The Hot Wheels kit will be available as a $6,995 option package on both the Camaro Coupe and Convertible, in either 2LT form with a 323-horsepower/3.6-liter V6 or in 2SS guise packing a 426-horse/6.2-liter V8.

Finished in a Kinetic Blue Metallic, the 2013 Hot Wheels Camaro also features a full ground-effects body kit, ZL1-style front upper grille, ZL1 rear spoiler on Coupe versions and Black finish 21-inch alloy wheels with a red outline stripe. Additional exterior cosmetic touches include a two-tone matte hood graphic, blackout rear valence panel, fender "flame" graphics and Hot Wheels grille and decklid logos.

Inside, the Camaro Hot Wheels Edition is decked out in black leather with red accent stitching and has a Hot Wheels logo embroidered into the front seats. Black dash and door inserts are set off with a Hot Wheels flame decal on the doors, "Hot Wheels Edition" sill plates and red-edged Camaro-logo premium floor mats. It also will come with Chevrolet‘s MyLink infotainment system.

The first Hot Wheels Camaro went on sale in 1968, when a still highly collectable 1/64-scale version was issued by Mattel as part of its original 16-car series. This new 2013 Chevrolet Camaro Hot Wheels Edition will be produced in a limited run during the first quarter of next year. "Millions of us grew up playing with Hot Wheels," said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. "Offering a special production model of the Camaro Hot Wheels is an opportunity to bring those memories to life, for kids of all ages."
