Positive Review

"Comfort and Useful"

Our SRX V8 is averaging 17.1 mpg at an average speed of 34 mph. I think that is quite good for such a large "station wagon" with this much power. The car is very comfortable, quite responsive, both in handling and speed. Cross winds do not phase this car (we have the magnetronic suspension, don't know if that helps cross wind stability or not). Previous car was a BMW 525, this SRX handles and rides about the same and is much quicker. Brakes are good but pads wear out at about 25K miles, ours need replacing at next oil change. Tires are holding up well and wearing even. No squeaks or rattles so far. Very comfortable on long trips. Good leg room in second seat, my son is 6' 5" and is comfortable back there on long trips. The AWD stability control is great on snow and ice, we go skiing a lot and have tested this several times, excellent AWD system plus the transmission shifts very smooth both up and down. Poor visibility out the rear sides but the big mirrors are very good, just have to get used to that and then its ok. We have the ultra moon roof, its quiet below 75mph but wind noise at 80 and up. We have had no electrical or mechanical problems so far (20000 miles). As of now we are glad we bought it.

Not too bad for a Caddy
Pros

V8 power, usable cargo area, great styling

Cons

Oil leak, expensive HID headlights

I'm older & retired so I wanted something easier to get in/out of but didn't want a full size SUV. Saw an SRX on the freeway and thought humm, why not? Hit the net found a Cadillac forum and started my research. Most owners had favorable comments. So I studied the SRX problem areas and knew what to look for. I started my search in Southern California and found a low mileage '09 with the Northstar V8...bingo! After a few weeks of dickering it was mine. The car has 71,000 miles, physically in good condition but in need of mechanical attention. I replaced the entire suspension, brake rotors/pads, tires and battery...roughly $5k in costs. Wow, it was like night & day! Then a few weeks later the dreaded Northstar oil leak. Because of the engine design the fix requires engine removal at a cost of about $3,500. My fix is a drip pan in the driveway. But, I love this thing and plan to keep it till it blows. Recently drove from California to Indiana with the rear seats folded & the cargo area full of stuff. It didn't miss a beat. It's a champ hauling garden stuff and furniture too.

It's Been Great Fun But It's Too Big Now

My only problem with this Cadillac is the blind spots. I am shorter than when I purchased it 12 years ago. I'm only 5' tall now. The seat adjustment does not go high enough for me to be able to see very well and the side view mirrors create a large blind spot when turning left. My husband does not have this problem as he is a good deal taller than I. The car is very roomy and we've never had any problems filling the trunk with luggage or turning down the back seats and loading up with long items. I would have liked larger sun visors. Everything was easy to operate without taking one's eyes off the road.

love my car but the repairs sucks
Pros

nice ride and look

Cons

expensive repairs

This vehicle has cost me more than I've paid for it . I thought that i was really getting a good car and deal 7889.00 wow i had cash. It has only been a year and a half and I've had brakes twice 400.00 first time and 777.00 second time, a rear wheel differential bushing 866.00, sealed the hatch back 800.00, , engine mounts 1075.00, spark plugs 465.00 and now the dual air conditioner...geesh not worth the ride or comfort of the vehicle.

Worst car I have ever owned
Pros

Really great ride, good response.

Cons

Unreliable

Our 2008 SRX is very unreliable. We bought it used with 45,000 miles. Right away we noticed it was using a lot of oil. Turns out the air filter enclosure had opened up along the bottom. The engine was ruined, had been breathing unfiltered air for thousands of miles. Then the wheel bearings started failing. We have replaced 7 of these, on all 4 corners. Then the power steering failed. The rack and pinion was shot. We replaced it with a Delco and it lasted just over one year, which was just out of warranty. Then the ABS system has a problem, the ABS symbol in the instrument cluster kept coming on. The dealer could not locate the source. I could go on, but I hope you get the picture. If you think you want to buy one of these, our advice is to stay away.

Best year I ever owed was the 2008 and 2009 Srx
Pros

Just so complete and a pleasure to be inside

Cons

Gas hog a little bit

This vehicle is special. It was the 3 year transformation to the 2010 and they made the first in 04. The o4-06 was ok at the time it was new. But the 07 08 09 is some of the best experiences I've had in maybe any car ever. Just a one of a kind interior. Everything was done better then these late models. Best srx I ever owned was my 08. Drove it to 140,000 miles in 4 years and regular maintenance it gave us no problems and all the extras work unlike the previous 04-06. My favorite car ever

Not even worth it.
Pros

Looks good

Cons

Unreliable

Bought my SRX at 128000 miles and had transmission issues from the start. 1k miles later had to drop 800 for a tune up and fix a miss fire issue. The automatic lift gate stopped working. Headlight assembly shorted out and had to be replaced. Finally at 175k miles it started to leak oil bad and i got rid of it. Although i did enjoy the interior space and features like the big leather seats and dvd player.
