"Awesome car and very fun to drive!"

I love my 1998 Cadillac Eldorado ETC, the Northstar's 300 HP is very impressive; able to hold it's own and then some. This was the top of the line Cadillac's with all of the creature comforts of cars ten years newer. She takes Premium fuel, but averaging 17 MPG...and I don't hold back =) Another fun requirement of owning a Northstar is performing the W. O . T. exercise...on ramps and frontage roads; in second gear take her up to 80 MPH and let off the gas leaving the load of the engine drag your speed back down to 20-30 MPH...rinse & repeat to burn the carbon from your heads. Expensive car to maintain and repair if you don't do your own wrenching...I think of her as my newer muscle car!

Critical Review

"Beware!!"

This is an AMAZING car... when it works. I purchased this car 1.5 years ago, and I've have been able to drive it for a total of 8 months. When one thing goes down on her, the rest seems to follow. I bought this car at 109k miles and it's currently at 118k miles. I've had to replaced the 3 of the O2 sensors, radiator and overflow tank, water pump and thermostat, upper manifold, front air shocks, alternator, battery, stereo head unit and rear speaker, starter, steering column, steering wheel, computer, and the dreaded HEAD GASKETS! (total: $8500) I paid $5,000 for this car. But, when you start down this road of repairs, you think that this is your last fix and it's good... not true; you fix one thing and 2 pop up. IF you have the money to keep up with repairs, she's an amazing car! Great gas mileage and power when you need it, heated seat, sun roof, the feeling you get driving it. But be warned! HAVE A GARAGE CHECK IT OUT BEFORE YOU BUY!!!! and still be skeptical. Accept no "Check Engine Soon" lights. ;)

Beautiful Ride, when it’s working.
Pros

Looks Great, Comfortable, Smooth Ride

Cons

Poor Reliability, Cheap Build Quality

This has been the greatest Highway ride I’ve owned. Plenty of power, smooth ride, and good enough handling. For a 20 year old car it’s pretty quiet on the road. No real rattles or wind noise. Sadly the electrics and random Stabilitrack messages in this car could test the patience of a saint, and the not so subtle clunk when taking off from a red light can be annoying. Possibly just my particular car. Overall once i get it all straightened out at the shop, I think it’s going to be a great everyday driver.

My 1997 Eldo ETC is definitely a "Looker"
Pros

This is the best looking car on the road today!

Cons

Always needs parts that are pricey & hard to find!

I have owned my 1997 Cadillac Eldorado ETC for approximately 17 years now. It is the 8th car that I have owned....and it has gone through more "cosmetic" and actual "upgrades" than all of the previous seven cars combined! And I have owned some rare "treasures" including a rare Chevy Nomad Wagon, and a 1961 Corvette, and a 1962 Corvair Monza, and a 1965 Mustang and 1971 FIAT....Now after having new paint + wood dash & wood steering wheel & shifter + new leather seats + new suspension + racing brakes & rotors & new engine and finished off with Vogue 17 inch WW Tires & Vogue Rio Chrome Wheels ....it is in better than "Showroom" condition. Gets compliments everywhere whenever I am parked ...everyone loves the looks!!
