Positive Review
If you can find a solid one used, pick it up and find a backyard mechanic or a mechanic that runs a shop for cash. This is not a car you want to take to the Cadillac dealership for anything!!! If it had a warranty or was a newer model, I could understand, but with an older model, you are throwing money away. Wash it and have it hand waxed. Take good care of the paint. The ignitions on these are also part of the GM recalls but they might not show up on the list because of the age, so call the dealership to verify and set appt.
Critical Review
What a let down. I purchased a 2000 Deville that appeared to be in immaculate condition, and very well kept up. The car drove like a dream, and the ride was smooth. After roughly three months of leisurely driving this car it is completely useless now with a blown head gasket. The cost to repair is outrageous, and my repair man advised it would be better to just replace the whole engine. I realize the car is old, but I was hoping to get a few more miles out of it. Just beware if you are purchasing a used Deville with a Northstar engine. I have learned from my mechanic that blown head gaskets are a common issue with the Northstar engines in the Deville. What a shame because the car drives and rides like a dream. I was just expecting more from a Cadillac since my cheap Toyota Corrolla carried me for 320k miles with no issues.

Powerful engine, very quiet, smooth ride.
May have costly maintenance.
I purchased this 2005 Cadillac DeVille from my snow-bird neighbor. I knew the original owner and knew the low miles (less than 67,000 on a 2005) were accurate. I did put almost $3,000 into it immediately, making some repairs and doing some much needed maintenance. The ride is terrific! Since I expect to keep the car for several years, I considered the repairs an investment. The V-8 engine is great, and since it was kept in a garage, the outside looks almost new. The exterior holds up much better than other cars. I do expect to pay more for regular maintenance than for a similar older car, but the power and ride make it worth the expense. I highly recommend a used Cadillac, if you can find one with low miles and know the maintenance schedule.
Great highway vehicle
Fuel and lubricants have become cumbersome
Heavy on fuel, 2 of everything to replace parts.. if not on highway not very economical. Quite comfortable to sit ..

$repairs$, rain, response time, appearance, short,
OK. So we only HAD this car for a year. We got it as a FAMILY CAR because we had just had a baby boy in early 2020. We got it at a good price with only 85k miles on it. But we drove 1000 miles down to Florida and that first drive it needed new coils. Then a few months later, the brakes just STOPPED WORKING!? LIKE, WHAT? THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFE FAMILY CAR. I was driving my son to his grandmothers house and went to stop at a light and it wouldn't stop! Well we got that fixed, along with new brakes and rotors of course and the brakes still squeaked! Oh and I haven't even mentioned the rain. Whenever it rained, water came pouring in every corner of the interior! Idk where it was coming from! That was utterly annoying. Then, I wrecked it. The response time to this car is terrible. I've never caused an accident in my life! That was just ridiculous. It wouldn't turn away in time. The caddilac crumbled while the car I hit received minimal damage. Idc. We put more money into fixing this car than we bought it for! Luckily, during the crash, it did keep me and my 3 passengers safe. That is the ONLY REASON IM GIVING IT 2 STARS
Great if you love luxury and style. Eye catcher.
Large vehicle so it loves gas.
Rarely driven since purchased year ago from previous owner (under 800 miles). Great running condition. Few minor exterior dents. Beautiful car.
