Positive Review
Love the car however had the car for 3 month and a deer hit me. I have waited 2 1/2 months for parts for a front end damage. Parts are unavailable and GM said they do not know when they will be available. Asked the GM resolution department when they might be available. They would not give me an answer, I said could it be longer than 6 months, There answer was hypothetically they could be. GM did nothing to help me out. My insurance company decided to total the car even though the damage was minimal ($3500 head light assembly bumper, hood). I asked GM resolution department "do you have to carry parts for a vehicle for a car you produced 10 years after production. Their answer was NO. this car is wonderful, but it is a unicorn that might be a problem in the future for those who will find it a struggle to find parts or find them expensive because GM will not support this car. GM sold off Opel and now it will not import this model ever again.
Critical Review
My wife urged me to consider GM products again since she came from a GM family. As an experiment over 6 years, we purchased 4 GM products. All have significant issues, but the this Regal and Verano are the worse. For starters, almost all GM engines these days consume oil regardless of maintenance. Being an engineer, these cars have seen nothing but DEXOs oil from mile 1 and the engines still consume oil. This Regal is consuming 1.5 every 3,000 miles at 40,000 miles. GM says this is normal and will not repair. Based on a quick internet search it seems this is common and when GM does finally issue a special coverage warranty, they only select about 5% of affected cars or issue it to only cover low (less that 4,00 a year) miles to keep the Class Action lawsuits at bay. The Verano at 82,000 miles now uses 3 Qts every 3,000 miles and the Regal will probably use the same amount when it hits 80, 000. Engines are just one of many issues with our GMs, all which are expensive to repair. If i had a GM dealer fix all of the manufacturing defects that I, and most other owners, have had the repair costs would exceed over $12, 000. Our Malibu has similar problems and lack of GM response, just not as bad. BOTTOM LINE: Our experiment is over and we will never purchase an GM product. The Honda (188,000 miles) and Toyota (167,987 miles) now over 10 years old have not had a single repair beyond oil and brakes. I would take these cars on a trip rather than our 2018 Regal. Ignore what the Car magazines and websites say. GM has influence over them. When it comes to GM products, just hold on to your checkbook and walk the other direction quickly. Trust me you will thank me some day.

Consider the overall cost of ownership, including gas mileage, maintenance and repairs, insurance costs, and depreciation.
Handling, heating/cooling, storage space
OnStar technology is dated. GM needs to move on.
Bought this vehicle in December 2018 and continue to be delighted with its performance and efficiency. I typically average 30+ MPG around town and near 40 MPG on the highway. It's fast and the 9-gear automatic transmission is smooth. Even with four occupants it has good to excellent acceleration.
Quiet, quick, comfortable, family friendly, roomy
A little pricey when new. No longer made by Buick
The Regal Essence is a quiet safe easy riding 4 door sedan. I get 30 MPG in mixed suburban/hwy driving. The car is comfortable and handles well.
None
Poor gas mileage l, road noise.
Poor gas mileage, in shop several occasions due to plugs. Very loud cabin, lack of insulation. Road noise
Great all purpose auto!
I smige to low, getting in and out
Like most people who have had GM products in the past I swore that would never have another one in my driveway. That being said I saw this car and had to check it out. When I knew it was imported from Germany, I gave it a hard second thought. Boy am I glad I did. It really has been a wonderful car, It rides well, Ive had two back surgery's and and use to not be able to ride much more than a couple of hours before I had to stop and walk around. Yesterday I rode almost four hours with out much problem. The heated seats really make a difference there. It handles well and I really love the adaptive cruise control. Works really well. Have just under 22000 miles and I have not one single problem with other than usual maintenance. Do your self a favor and check it out. As i said its not your run of the mill GM car.
Nice mix of sportiness, luxury, tech and utility.
Not as responsive as previous manual, but easier.
I used KBB to get trade-in as well as used car value for this purchase. Right on the nose! Car is very impressive over a two-day 300 mile+ trip. Looking forward to learning all the new technology and personalizing the vehicle.
Fun to drive
Too Fast!!!
Cool sports car!!! Fun to drive. Smokes most cars stoplight to stoplight! Good gas mileage for a fast car!
styling, versatile hatch, powerful turbo engine
highway road noise, no interior hatch release
great power & acceleration from the turbo 4 -- very useful hatch instead of a trunk holds plenty including a bicycle -- attractive, versatile, and looks classier than all the similar-sized 4-door Camrys, Altimas, & KIAs seen everywhere -- love that it was built in Germany, but glad to buy as a domestic brand at a bargain price -- a few complaints would include having no interior release for the hatch, nor one on the key fob -- only way to open the hatch is to press on the logo/emblem in the rear -- other disappointment would be the road noise on a concrete roadway such as an interstate, although much quieter on asphalt -- also, the bluetooth interferes with my iphone, but that's a GM thing -- otherwise, really enjoying the car
