Positive Review
I have owned this vehicle for 12 years. It has been reliable and dependable. It drives like a dream, nice and smooth. Takes bumps fantastic and I haven't been able to find anything so comfortable. If they still made this vehicle I would buy it again. I get an average of 19 miles per gallon too. It has great power and all the bells and whistles.
Critical Review
Bought the car with 33,000 miles and put 50,000 on so far in three years. In those three years, we never saw a day without something needing repair. Some of the minor problems went unfixed for a while because I only had enough money for the more important fixes. Here's a list off the top of my head of the all the stuff that went bad. Rear speakers buzz loudly, center console latch broke, heater for driver's seat quit, roll-over sensor for airbags went bad, exterior handle on driver's door broke, exterior handle on rear passenger door broke, lift struts for tailgate gave out, water pump had to be replaced, blower module that operates the cabin fan went bad. This car is has been a money pit. For being a nice car with a quality looking interior, it sure has kicked me in the wallet to the tune of more than $2000 just for unexpected repairs. Also, if you are a do-it-yourselfer and change your own oil, the filter is in a TERRIBLE spot that is hard to get a grip on.

Comfortable seats
Everything else
Comfortable ride when not in shop checking check engine codes.. then needed a new cylinder for 1200 bucks bought it in 2015 on cape cod DMR HONDA. Needed new lines no big deal.. but then died on me.. thought it was a fuel pump.. but mechanic said don't bother undercarriage and support struts made it a "death trap".. fuel pump was "least of my worries" I got a hundred and fifty bucks from a junk yard had recently new tires.. looked fine.. drove ok..steering was a little loose..would not recommend..staying away from buicks now.. cheap interior fixtures. Radio had electrical problems battery light came on stayed on..drained battery dead a few times. Book value was still a few thousand... died with 152,000 on the odometer.
it is a vehicle you have to drive.
not very big on the inside and only 2 cup holders
I love my 2005 Buick Rainier it is so comfy to drive.. I'm not a fan on the color, but everything else about it I love.. I'm only 5'3" and I can adjust my pedals to come to me while also sitting up high enough that I feel like I'm driving a big truck... I had a 08 kia sedona van before this, with the same size motor, and this does better on gas in town then my van could have every dreamed of.
Fun to drive
The engine purs like a cat
The Tiger woods edition buick rainier 5.3 is great! I'll deciding if I want to sell it. But it'll have to be the best offer

I bought my 07 Rainier AWD two months ago for rainy/snowy weather (I normally drive a Sentra) and I love driving it, the seating position is high, comfortable seats, and has good power for a 6 cylinder. I have had to put about $900 in repairs but after it has given me no problems. I would recommend the Rainier over the trailblazer or envoy.
Very few repairs over the years, less than $1000 in 15 years.
Good reliable, smooth engine.
Poor AWD system and electrical problems.
The inline six cylinder has been a model engine, reliable with good power, and no transmission issues. However, the front passenger driveshaft on all wheel drive models goes through the engine oil pan! It was non-functional when I bought it. I paid $1,000 to have it repaired and it failed again in a year, although I had a set of new matching tires and even removed the front differential and transfer case fuses to prevent the AWD from engaging when not wanted. That is another issue, there is absolutely no manual control for the AWD, it's completely automatic, and I want to be able to turn 4wd on or off. At least with a Trailblazer or Envoy you have that option. I took it to another mechanic and he recommended not fixing it again because the driveshaft is simply not reliable where it passes through the oil pan. Other problems: stray voltage or open ground? frequently causes bad noise in radio speakers; cruise control doesn't work sometimes, and the check engine light is inoperative.
