Positive Review
As of this review I have had the car for 11 months. 2006 Buick Lucerne CXL with the 4.6L Northstar V8 Reliability: I have had no issues or waranty work in the time I have had it. Value: The price tag is a bit high compared to some of the other cars in its class but if you like cadilacs but dont want to pay the cady price tag this is a comfortable lower priced alternative built on the same chasis as the DTS. Quality: As above no problems. The car has a good quality feel and look to the interior design and materials. Performance: I have plenty of merging and passing power with the 4.6L Northstar. As a fan of muscle cars and V8 performance I was plesently suprised by this small V8 and the gas milage is respectable for the power trade off. On long Highway trips I was able to get 24MPG and normal driving average is 20MPG with a 50/50 mix of highway and city driving. Styling: I love the simple yet stylish body lines of the Lucerne. I often set back relaxing and enjoy looking at it even after having it nearly a year. I have the lighter of the 2 Red colors available and find it to be more atractive than most of the other colors I have seen on the road. Comfort: Verry comfortable for my body build (5'9" 170lb) but I can understand if larger folks would feel cramped by the bucket seats. The seats are also squeezed to the middle to allow room for the side air bags and this can make it feel more cramped at times. The arm rest could also be a little longer to the front. Other than these few things the car rides like a dream with the standard suspension. I did test drive one with the high end magnetic suspension and it was noticeably better in the corners compared to the standard. The controls are functional and easy to reach while driving. Over all I love the car and would definitly recomend it if you are looking for a domestic mid size car that is actualy built in the US.

I bought a 2009 Buick Lucerne in 2012. I have had not one bit of trouble with it and the only thing I do is fill it with gas and have it washed.
Super comfortable and roomy
Transmission rebuilt
I had an 06 Lucerne for just over 7 years and I loved everything about it. It's comfortable, reliable, and a great family car. I'm a soccer mom and spent a lot of time sitting at practices, reading or just relaxing. It's super roomy, and my CXL had just the right amount of oomph in the engine to go when I needed it to. I did have to have the transmission rebuilt, but haven't had any problems with it since. I would highly recommend this car to anyone who doesn't mind driving something bigger. (My husband always said it felt like he was driving a tank or a boat when behind the wheel.) The only reason I'm not driving it now is because of a traffic accident last week. I would happily have kept this car until it didn't run anymore!
Comfortable and will last longer than most
Simple problems and minor fixes
This car is an inexpensive luxury car and drives like it! My grandpop told me you can never go wrong with a Buick and he was right. This car definitely is worth the money!!
Comfortable, Reliable
Gas Mileage isn't the greatest.
I've had mine for over 2 years, 97k miles on it when I made the purchase.. I have had to make a few minor fixes but otherwise its been extremely reliable. It drives smooth, and is very comfortable. I am a Buick fan and definitely a fan of the Lucerne. I would recommend as you can get them reasonably cheap, and the are a great value.
SUPER NEXT WORLD comfort super affordable
(Almost none) Turning Circle
The buick lucerne is a Masterpiece machine. The ride quality is unique and extreme comfortable! compared to any other vehicle in its price range. Put some Goodyear Comfortred tires on it and it feels like a Magic Carpet Ride (what i did). The seats are wide, plush and just downright comfortable! The 3.9 V6 is a very satisfying engine it has gobs of torque at extremely low rpms. This is a very very unique advantage that dual overhead cam engines simply don't have. Because there's so much extra torque, if you're patient and drive it correct I've gotten 36 miles per gallon on the highway going 60. Even going 80 I can still get 30 miles per gallon. The way to get very good gas mileage out of this V6 is by accelerating slow and using all the torque to accelerate up to a cruising speed while staying at low RPMs. Once it's in 2nd gear you can get up to your cruising speed without going over 1,200 RPMs!! It's very satisfying to be accelerating up to cruising speed while the engine is hardly revving more than idle! The transmission is very easy shifting and it's tuned for fuel efficiency, due to all the extra torque, and the 4th gear being spaced so efficiently, it really doesn't need a 5th or 6th Gear. It only revvs at 2,000 RPMs going 80 mph. Steering wheel is easy and comfortable to turn. All the buttons on the steering wheel are intuitive and thoughtfully placed, especially the volume buttons which are so easy to find you can feel for the buttons without even having to look down at the steering wheel. The gauges look very cool and modern at night, not to mention with all this Comfort it's still a modern looking Buick, and its stylish from certain angles, the portholes are my favorite ( makes it look very luxurious and modern) and from the tail lights it looks like a VW Passat. Headlights are very effective and light up the road, so are the fog lights and brights. It's very quiet inside you can't hear the powertrain at all, there's no road noise whatsoever. The wind noise is noticeable however it's very low. Buick did a good job with the Quiet tuning! Overall maintenance is very affordable and it costs as much to maintain as an economy car even though it's a super comfortable luxury vehicle! ( because it uses all older and proven technology that is super reliable) Sound system sounds premium and has good sound. AUX port works good without any static. O and did I mention the extreme reliability of this car? These pushrod v6's can get up to 400,000 miles if maintained correct. Pushrods are extremely simplistic and have 1/4 of the moving parts than an overhead cam engine has. Even if you got a check engine light it's about a thousand times cheaper to fix then a dual overhead cam engine. ( trust me I know I had a 2012 Corolla that was super good maintained and it got a check engine light at 60,000 miles. It needed an extremely expensive new cylinder assembly. Which is just utter nonsense and I sold it. In comparison the Corollas engine had dual overhead cam and direct injection. All those newer Technologies inherently cause more expensive repairs and it fails easier because it's too complex) To be honest this vehicle truly is a masterpiece and does not have any disadvantages except for having a wide turning circle. (You get used to it and it's still better than a truck) If you can find a used Buick Lucerne that has been maintained buy it on the spot! Before they're all sold because they've been discontinued. I just so happened to get very lucky with my Buick Lucerne purchase after searching for a properly maintained Lucerne for over a year. the dude selling it was very desperate for money and TitleMax was nuking him with interest and the Buick was about to get repoed so I stepped in and bought it.
I don't know, pretty much everything.
The only con is that I only have one of these cars
Bang for the buck, it would be hard to beat. I've always been a muscle car guy, I always have at least one or two at all times that are either new or old. As much as I like those you can't drive them every single day, at least I can't especially in the winter. My 2009 Lucerne CXL is really outstanding in so many ways, it's been a pleasure to drive. What I like most is on the highway it's so smooth and quiet plus it has way more options than any of my other cars such as heated seats & steering wheel, cornering lights, remote start etc.. what doesn't it have is more like it. I'm just glad I got one.

Have owned over 24 new cars over last 70 years including Olds, Chrysler, Pontiac, Lincoln, Honda. This Buick drives quiet and smooth. Easy to adjust power seat for comfort, especially on long distance driving. Gas consumption on LD driving 28 to 30 mpg. Decent trunk size at 17 CF. No engine or drive train problems. Replaced AC in 2020. Replaced engine mount, tourqe strut 2018. Otherwise normal replacement and service maintenance. Finish has held up nicely. Car garaged
e.g. fun to drive
e.g. light weight vehicle
Car is garage kept, only driven occasionally to church. Exterior & interior in excellent condition. FWD, also has a sun roof, remote locks, great a/c, AM, FM, On-star, single CD. etc.
