Positive Review
I ordered mine from the factory to get the exact options/features I wanted. Took about 2 months but that included Christmas holiday. I have 2WD with turbo 4 (called the sDrive i28...confusing!) Fuel economy has been 28 city and 32 on my only highway trip so far. Acceleration is stunning for the gas mileage it gets. Some have criticized the auto start/stop but I don't find it disturbing. Yes, it is noticeable when it restarts, but hey...you just saved all that gas at long stop lights. Also, can push button to turn off the feature if in a drive-thru lane or similar stop and go situation. Very well designed interior. I chose Terra cotta leather with matte wood trim and it looks great! I agree that navigation system isn't up to the standard of the rest of the car, but it is still quite good in my opinion. The iDrive control system is awesome and worth the cost of the navigation system all by itself. It is easy to use, convenient and very intuitive. Controls phone, navigation, media (iPod/CD, etc), radio, vehicle settings and displays. Easier to control systems with BMW iDrive than with my wife's Mercedes GLK 350 controller but the Mercedes Nav display is a bit better. My X1 feels more responsive and nimble whereas her GLK feels more solid but sedate. For those who complain it's too small...not sure why you'd look at the X1 in the first place. That's the point of it. It is a high-performance, road hugger (for an SUV) but it isn't designed or suitable for a family of 5 with all their gear on a trip. Leg room good in rear unless front seats fully pushed back, then too tight for most adults. For me, it was the perfect combination of features, performance and utility (I carry kayaks and mountain bikes a lot). I highly recommend this car.
Critical Review
Poor gas mileage 21MPG...My SRX got better gas mileage. Fuel efficient on/off technology is annoying. When you park, it turns off everything but the radio and you have to turn it on then off again. Brakes had to be replaced less than 1000 miles. iDrive had to be replaced at 4000 miles and was not covered under warranty due to moisture. Ridiculous design when iDrive is situated on the console between 2 cup holders. Interior is cheap compared to other $44K SUVs. Inside is small for an SUV in this class when you consider the poor gas mileage. There are bigger luxury SUV's with nicer interiors and same or better gas mileage with better reliability like the Lexus and Cadillac for the money. All you're buying is the BMW name.

I have had a 2014 for three years. It is great to drive and good in the snow. Good mpg and power. Cargo room is pretty good and backseat is not bad. Reliable car. Had an oil leak but the rest is maintenance.
You take care of It and It will take of you
I Love My Car! It is a Nice a Durable And Gas Efficient!Driving Performance is Awesome, My Toy! I Love It 🥰🎀
Reliable and good on the road. Once a BMW owner you would not want anything else. Secure and stable.
Is fun to drive and gets acceptable gas mileage.
Tires don't last long on BMW.
Bought this car used with 19,200 miles on it. It now has 188,800 miles on it. Have not had very much trouble with it and it is averaging 29 miles per gallon. It has room for me but if you were hauling very many people you would want the bigger BMW. To get more tire life and better ride quality you will want to switch from Run Flat Tires! Did not have premium radio or upgraded seats but it is okay as is.
drives ok
not good on gas
Im thinking about a new car
Fun to Drive
Road noise and Poor reliability.
Great feel of the road. Good acceleration for a small SUV, loves the curves and hills. High maintenance cost. After warranty is over spent money on, coolant pump $$, valve cover gasket, sounds simple its is not $$. Coolant leak $$. Other oil leaks. A items on the X1 cost $$$$ to have repaired. After just 72k miles we no longer want this BMW.
Fun to drive

The car is a great car. It got me to Greenville and back everyday about a 30 min drive. It’s very comfortable and I fit an eight year old in it and a infant!
Fast, Sharp Handling, Heated Steering Wheel
Extremely Unreliable, Costly Repairs, Small Cargo
I made the mistake of wanting something flashy. For this being BMWs entry level suv it’s really disappointing. I have now paid double what I originally paid for the car in repairs. You get one problem fixed and 1-2 months later another thing is messed up. It honestly feels like the dealership messes something up so you come back in. Also the interior quality could have used better styling and materials as they have slowly warn down over the years. Starting somewhere around 35k-37k you could get a much better car than this with standard safety features! Everything was optioned. At least I got the heated steering wheel. It truly makes winter so much nicer. This car is quick though! Feels like your in a mini race car and the turn radiance is sharp with medium heavy steering. All in all, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone… well unless you wanna blow all your money on fixing it and going into debt.
