Positive Review
Truly awesome driver's automobile. Awesome performance on great fuel economy. Not a family car. It excels at what it was made for. NO problems in 32,000 miles.
Critical Review
I have had my 135i convertible for 20months and it is one fun ride. But the trade-off, is at least once a month it is in the shop for something! At 1500 miles it stopped DEAD in the middle of a 4 lane highway; the dreaded HPPFP issue, it was replaced and that ISSUE is resolved. The convertible top had to be replaced at 8K, the lining came apart at 10K. When I took it in the shop the tech said " this is the third car this week with that". The brakes were replaced at 11K, the tire sensors are constantly are problem. The lighter is constantly blowing fuses, thus my air compressor will not work to feed those air losing tires. ECT, ECT, ECT... I love to drive this car, BUT at 3 years 363 days it will be traded in for another car...because when that warranty is up I am not going to be paying to service these constant issues.

Lots of costly ridiculous repairs. Not worth it. It's a high maintenace vehicle. It's an image to drive it and again not worth it. Get a Subaru instead!
great car excellent drive lots of fun fast handles swell small enough to get in and out of traffic quickly
Exceptional driving machine! In every way! 5 stars
Headlights should turn on low beam as well as high
Great car, very comfortable, sporty, has plenty of power. Handles like its on tracks. Good visibility. Love the steering actuated headlights! I'm 5'6" tall so I fit very well. But it'll handle someone at least 6'5" tall, my son. Telescoping steering wheel and tilt was such big bonus, especially being a manual. The quality of this car is right up at the top with the more expensive vehicles that I've owned and driven. It's unlikely that I'll part with it anytime soon. But, if I do I won't be giving it away!
Fun to drive, very good pickup, 6 cylinder engine
Trunk is smallish - particularly with top down
I have had 12 BMWs (cars and motorcycles) - so I’m a fan of the maker. The 128i is a fun convertible with plenty of get up and go. I bought it with the 6 speed manual - which I prefer over auto. If you prefer a lot more get up and go - get the 135i with the dual turbo. Great car for two people - the back seats really only accommodate smaller people (but great for kids or dogs and groceries). As long as you maintain BMWs, my experience has been that they run very well.
handles well great look
none
Great car overall. But it's the last few years of the 3.0 liter 6 cylinder (2008 to 2012). Most all new BMW's base models come with a very unreliable 4 cylinder now .

Nothing
I got crazy lucky finding this car. I bought in 2013 with 11,000 miles on it. Eight years later it only has 48,000 miles on it. I make sure that it is cleaned and oil changed. If you take care of the basics the car will last forever. I just recently had to put $800 into it for new coils. Didn’t hurt my feelings because it’s been a great car. It is a six speed manual transmission so it’s very fun to drive. People can’t believe that my car is 12 years old. This car is absolute perfection. However, again, I bought it with 11,000 miles on it so I’m basically the only owner. People who have problems with their BMW’s may have bought them as a second or even third owner. I will never own anything other than a BMW.
Fun to drive/Sound system/Heated seats/Bluetooth
small trunk
Owned by one owner. Has been maintained by certified BMW mechanics all its life from the day it was shipped from Germany in '09 when this model became available to the U.S. public. Daily commuter and never has been driven aggressively. Soft top was replaced before car got shipped to the states from Hawaii in '17. Car drives from point A to B with no issues. This car was built to last a lifetime with proper care by the next owner.
Sexy, agile, affordable used
cup holders small
I purchased this 7 year old BMW 128i convertible with 72,000 miles on a whim just before convertible season last fall. I opted for the normally aspirated BMW instead of turbo/supercharged options to keep maintenance costs within reason since Im not a racer and this is not my only car. I freakin love it. Seats are super comfortable, handling is very precise, fuel consumption is 26+ mpg over the last year over 8k miles, and the stock stereo thumps. Frankly, this is the most fun car I have ever had. It is small but not cramped, agile without being harsh, fit and finish are excellent, top drops and raises quickly, no leaks. I wrench on my own cars and the simplicity of the BMW is great. I replaced the brakes myself, routine things are not difficult. Overall, Im super pleased with this car.
