The most affordable configuration is the base ES trim, which gets front-wheel drive (FWD), wireless smartphone integration, and 7-passenger seating as standard equipment. 2. 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan

Hot on the Outlander’s heels, the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is nearly as affordable and equally practical, with a similarly efficient 4-cylinder drivetrain. The Tiguan gets a bit more advanced tech; however, with adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist both standard in the base model S; it also gets a 7-seat configuration and front-wheel drive. Like the Outlander, the Tiguan is a 3-row compact SUV, and that means the third row is still rather tight, despite offering a somewhat roomier 27.9 inches of legroom.

Three-row seating is standard in the 2025 Kia Sorento, from the base LX to the top-spec models, although turbocharged variants get second-row captain’s chairs, which reduce the seat count to six. The most affordable 7-seater Sorento is the LX, which gets wireless smartphone integration, a 12.3-inch display, and front-wheel drive. The Sorento’s third row is more spacious than the Outlander or Tiguan, with 29.6 inches of legroom.

Third-Row Legroom: 36.7 inches
Although they’re from different brands, the 2025 Chevrolet Suburban and the 2025 GMC Yukon XL are closely related below the sheet metal. They’re also both massively capable, capacious, and comfortable SUVs, and they get fresh new looks inside and out for 2025. Third-Row Legroom: 36.6 inches (64.4 inches of shoulder room)
The 2024 Jeep Wagoneer L is the somewhat less luxurious alternative to the 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer L, but otherwise, they share dimensions, for the most part. An updated Escalade is coming later in 2024 as a 2025 model, but for now, the 2024 Cadillac Escalade ESV offers the most capacious third row from the brand. Built on the same architecture that underpins the 2024 Navigator, the 2024 Ford Expedition is a massive and massively capable SUV that offers 36.1 inches of third-row legroom (or 40.9 inches with the second-row seats slid forward).
