Our 10 Most Awarded Cars of 2017

Whether you’re just starting to shop or you’ve narrowed it down to a couple favorites, our annual awards and 10 Best lists can provide valuable guidance and confidence. Here we celebrate the best of the best, highlighting the 10 cars and SUVs we awarded and recognized most often in 2017.

The 2017 Honda Accord won more Kelley Blue Book awards and accolades than any other vehicle this year. The Honda Accord is our Midsize Car Best Buy, one of our 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000, a 5-Year Cost to Own standout, one of the 10 Most Comfortable Cars Under $30,000, and one of our Best Family Sedans. The Accord Hybrid also received kudos as one of the 10 Best Hybrid Cars Under $40,000, and was recognized for its impressive resale value.

Honda’s Civic line includes coupe, sedan and new hatchback body styles, with variants that appeal to enthusiasts and practical-minded buyers alike. The Civic has been named our Small Car Best Buy every year since the award’s inception, and this year it repeated as our Overall Best Buy. That it’s also lauded for its tech features, for its status as an appealing family sedan and as one of the 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000 shows the versatility the Civic offers.

This American classic has received accolades in both 2- and 4-door form. Its soft-top and trail-ready nature made it a shoo-in as one of our 10 Most Fun SUVs, as well as earning it a spot on our collection of the 10 Coolest Cars Under $25,000. But the Wrangler also boasts some practical appeal, boasting two Best Resale Value Awards and a 5-Year Cost to Own Award.

Based on a strong foundation of comfort, safety and value, the Hyundai Sonata is a compelling alternative to powerhouses like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry. In 2017 the Sonata won praise as one of the 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000 and one of the 10 Most Comfortable Cars Under $30,000.

Following a complete redesign last year, the Kia Optima continues to rack up positive reviews. The sporty, stylish sedan was named one of our 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000 and one of our Best Family Sedans, too. The Optima’s hybrid variants were also recognized, with both the Hybrid and the Plug-in Hybrid having been named among the best in their respective groups.

Toyota took the gas/electric hybrid car mainstream, and the automaker has continued to grow and evolve the idea ever since. This year the Prius topped our list of Best Hybrids Under $40,000, while the Prius Prime was named the Best Plug-in Hybrid Under $40,000. Both also earned 5-Year Cost to Own Awards, and the Prius Prime is a 2017 Best Buy Award winner.

The comfortable and roomy Chevrolet Impala may be the best sedan for the Great American Road Trip. The three-time Best Buy award winner is also one of this year’s Most Comfortable Cars Under $30,000, one of our Best Family Sedans and a 5-Year Cost to Own champion.

Another entry that was completely redesigned for 2017, the Kia Sportage is this year’s Small SUV Best Buy for its compelling combination of value, practicality, style and exceptional warranty coverage. The Sportage also earned a spot on our 12 Best Family Cars list and we named it one of the 10 Best SUVs Under $25,000.

Honda’s popular compact SUV has been completely redesigned for 2017, and now it’s even more user-friendly and efficient. This perennial award-winner has already added more trophies to its collection, including 12 Best Family Cars, 10 Best SUVs Under $25,000 and 10 Best All-Wheel-Drive Vehicles Under $25,000 recognition.

Totally redesigned for 2017, the Subaru Impreza embodies practicality with its standard all-wheel drive, available hatchback layout and well-established reputation for reliability and safety. This year the Impreza is one of the 10 Best Sedans Under $25,000, a Best Resale Value Award winner and one of the 10 Coolest Cars Under $18,000.
