Predicted 5-Year Cost to Own: $29,145
Compared to Segment Average: -$6,838
The 2021 Hyundai Venue recently made its debut as the brand’s smallest and least-expensive crossover. The Venue boasts unexpected interior space given its diminutive size, and surprising technology and safety features despite its affordable price. And the Venue’s $18,750 starting cost is only the beginning of its value story. The Hyundai Venue also leads its class with the lowest overall cost to own over five years.
This marks the second year in a row that the Venue has earned the 5-Year Cost to Own Award among subcompact SUVs. As this vehicle just debuted last year, that means every model made is a winner. For 2021, Hyundai’s little crossover has some small but noteworthy updates.
All models now come with a continuously variable automatic transmission (few buyers wanted the formerly available manual transmission). That’s on top of standard features like an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and active safety features like lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking. The higher-trim SEL now includes blind-spot monitoring with rear-cross traffic alert, automatic climate control, and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Regardless of what trim you choose, the little Venue is a big value. All models use a small but efficient 4-cylinder engine rated at 31 mpg combined, have the kind of technology and safety features that today’s buyers crave, and boast Hyundai’s unbeatable warranty that includes 10-year/100,000-mile coverage of the powertrain. Meanwhile, the Venue’s diminutive size will allow city-centric drivers to snag parking spots where other vehicles simply won’t fit. And really, can you put a price on that kind of satisfaction?
